Exciting geo-competition: pupils shine with their knowledge

On August 28, 2024, the time had come again: the geo-competition at the International High School in Meerane took place for grades 7 and 12. Organized by the geography department, this school competition was part of the 23rd geography competition of the LaSuB (Chemnitz site) and offered students the opportunity to put their geographical knowledge to the test.

A total of 17 talented pupils took part in the competition, tackling tasks based on lessons from the previous school year. The young geographers impressed with their knowledge and commitment.

The school winners deserve special mention: Martin Frentzel from class 7b came top of his year group with an outstanding 23 out of 25 points. In Year 12, Anna Wissgott put in an equally impressive performance and secured first place with 59 out of 70 points.

But for the two school winners, this is just the beginning. In October, they will compete again to demonstrate their skills in the second round of the competition. Here they have the chance to qualify for the final round and showcase their talent at a higher level.

The Geography Student Council would like to congratulate all participants on their outstanding achievements and wishes the winners every success for the challenges ahead.
