Christmas
Ringing with love through candlelight,
mild, like the scent of the forest, the Christmas season.
And a simple happiness scatters on the threshold
beautiful flowers of the past.Hand nestles against hand in a tight circle,
and the old song of God and Christ
trembles through souls and quietly proclaims
that the smallest world is the greatest.Joachim Ringelnatz (1883-1934)
Dear families, friends and partners,
and once again it's supposed to be Christmas....
An early morning glance out of the window shows us a glittering, frosted world and gives us a hint that the year is drawing to a close. Time to pause and look back:
Was it a good year for me and my loved ones?
Did I enjoy my daily work, or: Did I enjoy going to school?
What have I or we achieved this year?
It was a good year for our school: our total of 317 pupils were able to attend full lessons throughout the year. Many rooms were renovated or redesigned so that learning, including self-organized learning, is enjoyable in beautiful surroundings.
Our outdoor area also became more colorful and beautiful: many hundreds of flower bulbs surprised us in spring with their blooming splendor. Thousands of IGMers swarm out every day to fill their honeycombs and bring us the sweet delicacy. Our pupils worked very diligently in the "Green School" so that we were able to be named "Saxony's most beautiful school grounds" this year. Congratulations to everyone who made it a gem!
In the meantime, a large amphitheater is also being built and we are looking forward to its inauguration on the 150th anniversary of our school on June 14, 2025, to which I would like to cordially invite you today.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt "thank you" to all those who do their best every day to give the growing children and young people the best possible education, practical experience and social values on their way into life. That means you, dear parents, as well as our teachers and school staff. The secret of a good education lies in the interaction between home and school.
Let's continue to pull together and look for ways forward together when we are faced with challenges - the children's positive development will thank us for it.
With our traditional Christmas concert, we would like to awaken the feeling of Christmas and cordially invite you to join us on Thursday, 19.12.2024, at 17:00 or 19:00. Please call Mrs. Eismann or Mr. Trenkel (03764 2331) to make a reservation. Before and after the concert, sweet and savory treats await you at our small Christmas market.
We wish you and your family a very contemplative and peaceful Advent and Christmas season as well as lots of health and optimism for the year 2025. On behalf of the entire team of the International Grammar School Meerane
, we send you our best regards
Kerstin Sommer - Headmistress
