Career orientation fair at IGM

BOM career orientation fair at the International Gymnasium Meerane -. Companies, universities and colleges got into conversation with the students

The career fair has tradition at the IGM, it lives through the special and thankful commitment of our partners in business and science. With a variety of information material, exciting presentations and many answers in their luggage, the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau, the Technical University Chemnitz, the Volkswagen Educational Institute, the police, the German Federal Armed Forces, the Kursana Domicile Meerane, the Theater Zwickau-Plauen, decorum-Fachlektorat, Salzgitter Hydroforming, Fronius an international company for welding, solar and battery technology and a student teacher inspired our students.
During the informative sessions in small groups and without time pressure, the future students and trainees were able to ask their very own questions about career opportunities, application modalities, courses of study and career opportunities in the wide range of professions presented.
Paul from Class 10b: "I learned that it is more attractive for me to go in the direction of dual studies. Before, I had planned to do an apprenticeship after graduating from high school and then become a master craftsman. But it's also very appealing what the Volkswagen Training Institute has offered to do this dual study program."
Mr. Eismann didn't just inspire Paul about the so-called "Stip," the study program in a practical alliance. He himself has taken this career path, so he speaks from experience about how rewarding it can be to have both vocational training and a degree in engineering in your pocket in 4.5 years. Amelie (Class 11) was also able to take away some important insights: "At the Volkswagen Education Institute, I found out about the various training options, including which companies you can then go to and also what an apprenticeship might offer that a degree can't."
Catalina from Class 12 attended the presentation by Kursana Domizil Meerane in the first module and "was surprised that there is also a lot more behind the professions than you might think. It was very, very interesting." The range of training and study professions in the field of nursing amazed most of the students, and likewise the many years of experience of the two sympathetic employees, who taught us their maxim "a smile on the lips and the heart in the right place".
Densely packed and with particularly great interest, the older students from our school sat in the four sessions at the University of Jena. So did Catalina: "They informed us about courses of study, application processes and housing and how to finance all the studies."
The question of a tenth grader in the module of the Theater Zwickau-Plauen caused a smile on all faces: "How do I manage to become an actor as famous as Jonny Depp?" the theater pedagogue Katharina Schlegel had interesting answers ready. The module of the team from the Plauen-Zwickau theater also made it clear what range of artistic-performing, technical and administrative professions are possible at the theater, and that one has to study "dramaturgy".
Ms. Phöbe Geiger sensed from the questions asked in his lectures that word has long spread among our students that the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau is a "small but mighty" address for students. And so many a student of the IGM will consider a nearby university not only for practical reasons, but also for qualitative ones.
The successful day was an important step on the way to the ideal company or university for our students.
