News from
everyday school life

On Monday, 16.09.2024, we, grade 8, went on an excursion to Lörrach. We met at the school at 6:50 am and left the city of Meerane at around 7 am with the help of a coach. We arrived at our youth hostel in the afternoon at around 4:30 p.m., checked into our rooms and then explored the grounds. We had dinner every day at 6:00 pm and breakfast at 7:30 am. On Tuesday, we first visited the Dreiländermuseum with the help of 2 workshops. In one workshop, we learned about the surrounding languages and dialects and tried to understand and classify them. In the second workshop, we learned about the region, its towns and mountains. When we left the museum at around 12:30 and made our way to the town hall, we were greeted warmly and given a glass with the coat of arms of Lörrach and cookies. Finally, we were allowed to enjoy the view from the roof of the town hall. From 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. we had time to explore the city of Lörrach with all its impressions and beauties, and we were also given tasks to complete, so that the whole thing worked like a city rally. In the late afternoon, we drove to Basel to see the city, gather impressions and learn a few things. At 5 p.m., we made our way back to the hostel, where we had dinner and then, like every evening, had time to work on our tasks.

On Wednesday, we drove straight to Colmar after breakfast. Arriving there at around 9:40 am, we all started together at a meeting point where we were to meet again after about three hours. During these three hours, we again had time to gather impressions and explore the town of Colmar. At the end of the day, we drove to the Hartmannsweilerkopf and hiked from there to two different summit crosses, enjoying the view and learning a lot about the war at that time. We arrived back at the military cemetery at 4 p.m. and then had another 15 minutes to go into the crypt. After dinner at our youth hostel, we had time to complete our tasks again and then had the opportunity to go into town again with our teachers to do some shopping for the evening after.

On Thursday, we took the bus to the Europapark in Rust at around 8:30 am. When we arrived there at 10:15 a.m., we arranged a meeting point with our teachers, where we met up again about six hours later and drove back. We all had a lot of fun at Europapark and really enjoyed our time there, let off steam and had a great day, which we ended with a barbecue evening after returning to the hostel.

Friday after breakfast we left our rooms at 8:45 am and made our way back to Meerane, where we arrived at 6:30 pm and all went home after an eventful, impressive and exciting week.
