We went on a field trip to Lörrach before the autumn break.
We were on an excursion in Lörrach before the autumn vacations.
From 25.09 to 29.10.2023 we were at the so-called "Dreiländereck". In the five days we were at many different sights, such as the Dreiländer-Museum or the Hartmannsweiler Kopf. We took a closer look at one city from each of the three countries. We were in Lörrach, Basel and Colmar. And as a conclusion of the excursion we visited the Europa Park Rust.
After we had finished the long bus ride to our twin city on Monday, we moved into our rooms in the youth hostel.
Tuesday started with a walk into the city center of Lörrach. There, in the Dreiländermuseum, we learned about the dialects that have become established in the area and the traces left by industry in the Dreiländereck. Afterwards we were welcomed in the town hall with apple juice and cake plait.
Finally, we took the bus across the Swiss border and visited Basel's city center.
On Wednesday we crossed the border into France and visited the French town of Colmar. Here we had a guided tour of the historic beautiful old town, learning about the people and their way of life. There was a lot of traditional food to buy. We also learned that if you look at people in a friendly way, sometimes you get something for free to eat. From this you can see that if you are friendly to strangers, it pays off. We also picked up a lot of new things on the tour. The city guide was very nice and made it interesting and fun.
After the city tour, we had some free time in Colmar. While there, we continued to look at the old town and then we bought and ate specialties at various stores. These were very tasty, but also very expensive.
Afterwards we drove to Hartmannsweilerkopf, where long positional battles took place during the First World War, because the mountain is attractively situated from a military point of view: One can overlook the whole Upper Rhine plain. We walked along the trenches and got an insight into the situation at a front line. This experience was very impressive.
On Thursday, we went to Europa-Park Rust and tried out how many rides on the Silver Star it takes to get sick. One of our teachers rode almost all of the rides.
When we came back on Friday, October 29th, we were all happy to finally be back home after the eventful week and to be able to start our vacations.
