Between wit and knowledge - our theater visit in Gera

On 04.02.2023 at about 18:30 o'clock we, the Leistungskurs Geschichte 12, made our way together with our teacher Mr. Fehre to the Schauspielhaus Gera to watch the farce "Hitlers Ziege und die Hämorrhoiden des Königs" by Rosa von Praunheim.
With wit and irony framing the scientifically proven facts and myths conveyed, we were introduced to the historical figures Adolf Hitler ("Addie") and Frederick II of Prussia ("Frederick the Great"), while at the same time practicing clear social criticism with regard to the political right wing that is once again gaining strength.
In a total of three thematic show units, Hitler's childhood and his supposed emasculation by a goat bite were illuminated, as well as his adult life, which was shaped by this, up to his death and a meeting in heaven with his great role model Frederick the Great. According to the myth, Frederick the Great suffered from hemorrhoids for a large part of his life, from which Hitler himself finally freed him.
Last but not least, the homosexuality of the two men, which has not been fully confirmed to this day, and the consequences of their concealment were also illuminated and musically underscored, among other things with the pieces of Wagner so beloved by Hitler.
With much applause, the acting duo was clapped on stage a total of 5 times and we had a lot of discussion material in the following history lessons about this thematically profound and at the same time ironic and funny performance.
