A good theoretical education in physics also includes practical application or experimental confirmation of the knowledge learned.
So the LK PH went to the student laboratory of the TU Chemnitz to gain these practical skills. The student laboratory offers very comprehensive equipment for computer-aided measurement and evaluation, and we wanted to take advantage of this.
First, there was a short theoretical explanation of the experiments by the supervisor and then the experimenting started. Already in the theoretical part, the students showed their already acquired knowledge and cooperated very well.
Brief initial difficulties in experimentation were quickly resolved. The further experiments on the movements and the determination of the gravitational acceleration g were very promising. Measurements were eagerly taken, records were kept and intermediate results were also calculated. Graphical representations were immediately visible on the screen and could be discussed and explained. In printed form, they are a good basis for the upcoming evaluation in class.
Our excursion to the student laboratory in Chemnitz was fun for everyone and showed that computer-aided measurement and evaluation is an important method of gaining knowledge and that this should be practiced again and again and included in the lessons.
